Today’s recipe is one that I think you’re going to love. Not just because it’s absolutely healthy and delicious but because I think this may be my most versatile recipe ever! I make my Juicy Chicken burgers all the time! I often serve them to my family as a main course for dinner! My kids love them on a traditional bun and Jonathan and I love them wrapped in lettuce with shredded cabbage with a little mayo and ketchup on top! Trader Joe’s also makes an amazing sweet chili sauce that is incredible on these burgers. If you can get your hands on some, I’m sure you will love it!

I love them so much that I always double the recipe so that we have leftovers for lunch the next day. The boys always request chicken burger sandwiches the next day and I love them chopped up and put a top my salad!

I really think this is the perfect recipe for when you’re craving a big, fat juicy burger but you’re also trying to be a little more health conscious. And, because of a secret ingredient (which I’m obviously going to share with you now….) these chicken burgers come out so flavorful (with no added salt), so tender and amazingly juicy.

The secret ingredient is marmalade and while that might sound strange to you at first, I’m telling you it makes all the difference in the world.

I live in NYC and don’t have easy access to an outside grill but if you do, you can certainly grill these outside. I use the broiler on my oven and they turn out perfectly every single time.

An added bonus is they freeze really well so if you’re family loves them as much as we do, I encourage you to make a HUGE batch and freeze them for now…and later. BBQ season is just around the corner.

Janine’s Juicy Chicken Burgers

Ingredients: (Makes approx. 10-11 burgers)

1 large onion – chopped

1 Tablespoon olive oil

1 lb. ground chicken breast

1 1/2 Tablespoons Orange marmalade

1 large organic egg

1/4 cup oatmeal

2 Tablespoons Nutritional yeast

1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika

Pepper to taste



1: Sauté the chopped onion in olive oil until golden brown, medium heat. Add a few drops of water if the onion is sticking to the pan too much. Set aside and let it cool down.

2: In a large bowl, mix together all the ingredients – the cooled onions, the ground chicken, marmalade, egg, oatmeal, nutritional yeast, smoked paprika and pepper to taste.

3: With wet hands (the mixture is sticky) form 10-11 burgers.

4: Place half the burgers on a large baking tray lined with parchment paper.

5: Place under the broiler (about 4-5 inches below), for 3-4 minutes then flip over and broil the other side, 3-4 minutes.

6: Take out of the oven, cool and enjoy!
